How To Set Spotify As Default Music Player Windows 10
I didn't recollect Spotify could be associated to handle local files like mp3s. Is that actually a characteristic it can handle?

20180101: I went to a random mp3 in file explorer > right clicked > open with > choose another app > more apps >
look for some other app on this PC
found (ii) locations of spotify.exe
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\SpotifyAB.SpotifyMusic_zpdnekdrzrea0\spotify.exe

yeah file association is an like shooting fish in a barrel part perhaps - but what I was looking for is to brand Spotify my default thespian -
e.g. when I say to Cortana play music (using windows 10 on PC & Surface 3), information technology ever look for Groove - which has been discontinue by Microsoft and moving on with Spotify. technically I should be able to do so.
This was the main reason I have to open upwards this thread.

Is this something Spotify tin can handle when it is non installed by the store? If so, we should exist able to acquaintance if we find the verbal path to the executable file, which is non very hard.

Mmm. I'm having difficulty associating. I am trying to make Spotify my default player and so when I invoke it from my keyboard it opens Spotify and not Groove.
I have the Spotify store app. If I attempt to associate MP3s to Spotify using the win10 settings app, it takes me to the shop merely hides the app and shows other music apps that are not Spotify. If I try to acquaintance using the Control Panel, it takes me to win10 settings app.
Both paths to the Spotify exe I mentioned to a higher place I found in the appdata binder. Its size was 0 kb, yet when I double-clicked on the exe information technology opened Spotify.
I am not sure what to practice to make my keyboard invoke Spotify when I press Fn+F4. That's all I want to exercise.

Even if nosotros install Spotify as an app, that doesn't announced in the listing to make that a default app for windows 10.

Associating MP3 files to the Spotify store app is non yet available. You volition need to import the MP3 files to be able to utilize them on the app. What you tin can practise is to provide a feedback to the programmer of the program to exist able to have this feature available like Shawn 'Cmdr' Keene [MVP] said.

sorry all everything you accept said only sounds similar a run around. I'm confused... I have win 10 surface 3 tablet a both Microsoft products which doesn't seem to matter they don't mesh nicely �� if Microsoft is not using groove music anymore & is using Spotify why hasn't it been all gear up for users to make a smooth simple over plough. I was told to download Spotify to replace groove. why weren't these complications worked thru before making groove invalid. I but want to download audio of a service & I can't become Spotify as default & groove is only an fault 0x8000705aa it really shouldn't be complicated thx
