This is great communication for people with a Xerox scanner.

As The above person has a HP scanner, and I take a Brother scanner the advice is non applicable.

I accept tested the Xerox driver with my scanner and have determined that it does non work.

Could, MS possibly advise users on exactly which Xerox scanner we should run correct out and replace our equipment with. Likewise practise we become a discount?  Does MS get a kick back from Xerox?
Are entire corporations with large customer bases expected to pay ransom for the ability to be placed in the "built-in, just not really, driver list" ?

I am astonished that what worked so well for my Canon MX870 under eight.ane  (and did initially for Windows 10) has now gone into the ether somewhere. What update did MS send that screwed it all upward?

In whatsoever upshot, I have resorted to the WIA browse utility after having reinstalled my MX870 3 times!!

UPDATE:

I have successfully integrated my Brother MFC9420CN printer/scanner/fax.

Blood brother drivers for Working 8.1 are working. (at the moment and to a caste)

Scanning is functional only via USB cable (Win 8+) .

Withal, merely printing via networking is functional.
Since I have 5 other computers and various devices that use this printer via network a serious trouble

now exists and has since Windows eight.0.

Network scanning is no longer possible, network faxing is no longer possible.

Network printing is still fine (for now).

My electric current solution is to utilize an older automobile running Win XP Pro and gear up it upwards every bit a Print/Scan/Fax server using the software provided with the original XP drivers for this model.
This offers the benefit of having a copy of everything printed, faxed, or scanned.
Using the server as a NAS as well allows for network wide distribution of files scanned.
The printer tin browse to specific folders on not-win8+ systems (via network) then I tin can provide document security and individual users with their own folders to reduce file clutter.

Since full network functionality is nowadays in XP or Win7 I practice not have to tether the printer via USB cable.
Which is why I purchased the MFC9420CN in the start place.

I am so frustrated. I have an HP printer. I've scanned earlier...why does it continually say, "cannot notice scanner?" I open up up scanners and printers...and it says it's prepare up every bit a scanner. Very annoying. Why is this and so difficult?

As some other noted, the guidance isn't helpful for those of u.s. who don't accept Xerox (or Kyocera or MS) scanners.  I recently upgraded to Windows 10 (a error???) and  have a Blood brother MFC7820CN network printer/scanner/fax (ethernet-wired) that has worked well with my older Windows systems.  While MS has a "built in" driver allowing my Win10 system to print (though I had to specify the IP address to add together the printer), the Camera and scanner installation wizardcan't notice the scanner and won't allow me to specify it by proper noun or accost as I had to do when adding the printer.  So scanning  & fax are useless to me.  Bummer!  Brother Support states that it is a MicroSoft issue...they can't provide drivers. ''

Suggestion to MicroSoft:  this is not a good way to become people to switch to Win10.  If nosotros can't expect to continue using other critical office components such equally faxes, scanners, etc. , why would anyone want to "upgrade"?

I have a Blood brother MFC7820N with ethernet connexion to my network & I'm now deplorable I "upgraded" my pc from WinXP Pro to Windows 10. It is turning out to exist a big and costly mistake.  I probably won't ever do that once more.
